How the injection mold works

Injection molds are a tool for producing plastic products; they are also tools that give plastic products complete structure and precise dimensions. An injection mold is a part that imparts shape and size to a plastic during molding. Although the structure of the mold may vary depending on the type and performance of the plastic, the shape and structure of the plastic product, and the type of the injection machine, the basic structure is uniform.

Injection molding is a processing method used in mass production of complex parts of certain shapes. Specifically, the plastic melted by the heat is injected into the cavity by the high pressure of the injection molding machine, and after solidification by cooling, a molded article is obtained. The gating system and the molded part are in direct contact with the plastic and vary with the plastic and the product. It is the most complicated and most varied part of the mold, and requires the highest degree of smoothness and precision.

The plastic is first heated and melted in the heating barrel of the injection machine, and then pushed into the mold cavity through the injection system nozzle and the casting system of the mold under the push of the screw or plunger of the injection machine, and the plastic is cooled and hardened to form a product. The structure is usually composed of a molded part, a pouring system, a guiding part, a pushing mechanism, a temperature regulating system, an exhaust system, a supporting part and the like. The manufacturing materials usually use plastic mold steel modules. The commonly used materials are mainly carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel, alloy tool steel, high speed steel and so on. The injection molding processing method is usually only applicable to the production of thermoplastic products. The plastic products produced by the injection molding process are very wide, from daily necessities to various complicated machinery, electrical appliances, vehicle parts, etc., which are molded by injection molding. It is the most widely used processing method in the production of plastic products.
